DoubleDragon crafts growth plan for 2020-2025

MANILA, Philippines — DoubleDragon, the listed property and mall developer of Mang Inasal founder Edgar “Injap” Sia II and Jollibee Foods Corp. chairman Tony Tan Caktiong, is now laying the groundwork for its next phase, with just two years left to complete its existing growth plan.

In an interview with The STAR, Sia said the company is crafting its growth plan for 2020 to 2025, which will continue to focus on the property industry.

Sia said DoubleDragon would again establish its own niche as what it has been doing, instead of going into areas that are dominated by property giants like SM, Ayala Land Inc. and Megaworld.

“The second phase of DoubleDragon will be from 2020 to 2025. It will again focus on property where we can be dominant in a few years,” Sia said.

Included in the second phase of growth is the establishment of industrial leasing facilities under the Central Hub brand.

The plan is to put up one facility in every province by 2025.

For the industrial leasing, the company is targeting to initially own 100,000 square meters of industrial space for lease by 2020.

Of the 100,000-square meter target, an initial

30,000 square meter would be located at Hacienda Luisita in Tarlac while the rest would be located in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, according to Sia.

For the new segment, which will be under DoubleDragon’s CentralHub Industrial Centers Inc., the company is targeting a wide array of sectors in need of industrial space.

These are food companies, manufacturers, consumer goods and many more, Sia said.

Another component of the second phase of growth is the hospitality business, which is focused on the expansion of the company’s hotel brands.

These boutique hotel brands, Hotel 101 and Jinjiang Inn, are under DoubleDragon’s Hotel of Asia Inc.

In all, HOA aims to have a total of 5,000 hotel room portfolio by 2020 from around 800 at present.

Sia said while plans for the second phase are underway, the company remains committed to achieve the goals set under the first phase of its growth plan.

In particular, the company is targeting to own 1.2 million square meters of prime and appreciating leasable space portfolio by 2020.

DoubleDragon expects to have 100 CityMalls by 2020. These small community malls are introducing modern retail in provinces all over the country.

Another component is the office space business. The company’s two Metro Manila office projects are Jollibee Tower and DD Meridian Park.

DoubleDragon Plaza, the first phase of DD Meridian Park, has been completed while Jollibee Tower is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
